Testimonials - pregnancy care I would like to thank you Anna for your support, advice, and acupuncture expertise throughout my pregnancy. I came to Anna in January of 2011 to begin acupuncture treatments to support in fertility in conceiving my second child. I have one healthy toddler boy that I had conceived while getting acupuncture treatments and my husband and I were now focused on growing our family again. I had been pregnant in the summer of 2010, but it had ended preterm in a miscarriage. So in January 2011 I began acupuncture sessions with Anna in hopes of becoming pregnant with my second child - and by the end of the month I was pregnant! My husband and I were thrilled to be expanding our family again – but also cautious through that first trimester, based on the experience we had had the summer prior. I continued to see Anna once a week for acupuncture treatments to ensure a strong and viable pregnancy. By the end of 20 weeks, my pregnancy was going very well and we learned we would be having a baby girl!!! I also visited Anna right before going into labor for help in inducing labor – I was three days past my due date when I visited her for a treatment and went into labor the following day and had my baby girl that evening – Edie, 9 lbs 5 ounces and 22 inches long. Anna is incredible at what she does, and also very informative, knowledgeable and supportive throughout my pregnancy. Thank you!!!
Thank you Anna! I felt amazing this morning!! I slept the WHOLE night and didn't wake up once. It was awesome! Also, I had ZERO hip pain all night and haven't had any since. I feel like a different person. I woke up with sooo much energy and feeling like my old self again. Thank you so much. If I don't have this little girl soon I will come in again and see you! I first came to visit Anna in May of 2009. I had been through 2 years of fertility issues and 8 years of digestive issues and was very discouraged. I turned to acupuncture as an option so as to not have to put more hormones in my body or get on more medication for my digestive issues since I wanted to be pregnant. Anna was very honest with me that she felt I could achieve my goal of getting pregnant, but it could take time. I would have to be patient. This was not easy to do considering I had been trying for a baby for two years already. She also felt she could help with my digestive issues. Upon my first treatment I saw results to my digestive issues. With the help of acupuncture and herbs I saw a great improvement to my stubborn digestive system. In January 2010 I found out I was pregnant. It was a miracle indeed and my husband and I are now proud parents of a healthy baby boy. I received treatments once a week from May to January and then twice a month until the baby was born. I should also note that my water broke at 31 weeks and I had to have my baby 2 months early. Although this was not what we would have desired, our son is healthy and thriving. I noticed a few things in the hospital that I feel all of the acupuncture visits helped with. I was at 5 cm before I knew I was in labor. I only pushed for 30 min. and although I chose to have an epidural, I was up walking around an hour after birth. The healing process to my body was quick and I only took pain medication for two days after birth. I should mention that the nurses were amazed by this. It was also a miracle that I didn't have to have a c-section considering how premature my labor was. I believe that with lots of prayer and the help of Anna...we were able to have the gift of a child. Thank you Anna for walking through this adventure with us. Blessings always,
Every woman's journey in becoming a mother is a individual and personal experience - my was challenging. But through the help of Anna my pregnancy became tolerable and then finally enjoyable. Anna helped me with the undisclosed or non-discussed parts of pregnancy that women don't talk about - and endure with shame or angst. Anna understood the discomforts associated with pregnancy - the lack of sleep, backaches, pelvic pain, nausea, balance issues, exhaustion and so much more. I remember that with one treatment she had my hemorrhoids under control - my OB was impressed! And in another treatment she stopped my leg cramps - my husband was impressed! Especially because I would wake him up in the middle of the night in pain trying to get out of bed. Through the later part of my pregnancy she prepared my body and mind for preparation of a c-section - while not the most widely accepted form of giving birth this was the safest for the baby and me. My c-section experience was amazing - I was discharged a day early I was on not pain medication from 1 day after surgery My recovery was quick and uncomplicated My scar healed like a scratch - Amazing! I attribute all of this to the work Anna did on preparing me. Her ability to offer my body comfort and healing through acupuncture allowed me to enjoy the very early moments of my daughter life - one I would not have if I was on pain medications or worse... I got to bond with my daughter and I am grateful for the preparedness that Anna provided to me.
To any future pregnant client of Anna, Being a Doula, Childbirth Educator, Lactation Consultant & Student Midwife, I knew that I would start acupuncture at the beginning of my pregnancy & throughout because of the positive effect I had seen it have on my clients. I started seeing Anna at 10 weeks of my 2nd pregnancy to help my morning sickness subside, it helped it tremendously and I felt I was able to start feeling like myself again. I was blessed enough to continue on with acupuncture treatments throughout the rest of my pregnancy every week to alleviate any discomforts of pregnancy, while strengthening my body in preparation for my birth experience. This birth experience was so important to me and I knew that if I wanted to do everything I could to make my body strong and in harmony, acupuncture had to be one of the key elements. Towards the end of my pregnancy, I started seeing Anna twice a week, and on July 22nd I received my last treatment before I gave birth to my son less than 24 hours later. I achieved a beautiful HBAC (Home Birth after a Cesarean) and gave birth to my son River in our jacuzzi in our backyard under the stars. This is a note from my patient who received one acupuncture treatment for her baby's breach presentation. She has also been under the care of a chiropractor. As a side note, all but two of my patients whose babies have presented as breach were able to be treated by me and have their babies turn head down. This makes THREE babies turn to normal position with ONE treatment. All of my other patients whose babies were breach (with one or more treatments) were not treated by chiropractic simultaneously. In this SECOND treatment, I recommended that we don’t treat her baby as breach since she already felt a difference in pressure in her lower abdomen. It is important that after the baby turns that breach treatments do not continue. Instead during the second treatment, we simply treated her to keep a healthy pregnancy – not to continue turning the baby. “So, I was able to catch my OB right before she was about to leave to a birth, and got an ultrasound, and baby was head down! Not engaged in my pelvis, but down. Hopefully he stays that way. I am so glad we decided to go with my instinct today, and go with the healthy pregnancy acupuncture.” - K.C.
How is this for a study? Morning Sickness: A patient comes to me at 9 weeks of pregnancy, having experienced really bad morning sickness since 6 weeks. This patient describes her symptoms, as constant nausea, exhaustion, bloating, gas & minor headaches that come and go. This patient never experienced this with her first pregnancy, and really needed relief in order to continue on taking care of her 5 year old daughter and attending births as a midwife. After her initial treatment, the nausea is GONE… and stays completely gone for the next 24 hours. The patient described herself as actually feeling like she could stand up taller and felt so good she joked about being able to run a marathon. After 24 hours, the symptoms started to come back, but only 50% of what they were before. Patient comes to me two days after the initial treatment, and after that treatment, the symptoms are now 80% gone. Patient plans to continue with acupuncture a minimum of twice a week for the rest of her 1st trimester and then accordingly for the rest of her pregnancy! “Thank you so much Anna, I actually feel human again!” LOVE YOU, Lindsey Meehlis
I've known Anna for over 15 years and she is very dedicated toward her career in Chinese medicine and acupuncture.
