From Susan, a local midwife.
After my client's water broke with no labor, my first thought was Anna and acupuncture. M came in to see me with no labor and a baby still high and not engaged. She went to Anna's office and even fell asleep during her appointment. Before returning home, I had her stop by just to check on her and the baby. Three hours had past and she came in with the baby's head down in her pelvis and a few mild contractions. Labor started at 10pm and she delivered a few hours later at home, in the water just as she had wanted!
This patient's appointment was around noon in our healing center. The needles were in this patient, M, for about 1-1.5 hours. Anna used Dr. Tan's Balance Method Acupuncture.

After 42 hours of total labor, 8 of which was hard labor and 15 minutes of pushing - Stella Rose was born at 3:14 AM on Saturday, May 3, 2014.
She is 6 lbs 8.5 oz and 20 inches of content, peace and joy. Already such a happy baby with a pleasant disposition. I can't wait for you to meet her!
Here's a sneak peek, from when we got back home from the birth center late Saturday morning...
Thank you so very much for all your work and dedication... There is no doubt in my mind of the great impact you and your expertise had on ensuring the birth of our baby girl was 100% natural, just like we hoped and dreamed! THANK YOU!!!

I was recently pregnant with fraternal twins and my doctors told me on a Friday that I would need to be induced the following Wednesday, the day I would reach 37 weeks. This was a precautionary move, as we had all just learned that I had cholestasis, a somewhat rare liver disease that appears only during pregnancy. My goal from the beginning of my pregnancy was to deliver vaginally, which my doctors thankfully supported. I also planned to get an epidural, but really wanted to avoid other interventions and medications, such as Pitocin. I knew that induction would involve Pitocin to get my labor started, and from what I had read and heard, this often creates intense contractions and sometimes leads to emergency cesarean births. I had been meditating and visualizing about my delivery for months, and induction was certainly not part of the "plan." My husband and I immediately started researching ways to "self-induce," and we decided to try it all! After over two months of bed rest, it felt incredible to get out and walk. I drank raspberry leaf tea, ate pineapple, had sex, got a reflexology massage, and bounced on a birthing ball, but nothing happened. The days passed and we started to get nervous. I'd always wanted to try acupuncture, and this seemed like a perfect opportunity. I had heard that it could induce labor, so I was eager to try it. Courtney from OC Midwifery referred me to Anna Dolopo, and I called her Tuesday morning. (Talk about 'down to the wire'! This was the day before my scheduled induction.) Although she was booked all day, Anna carved out time at 5 pm on Tuesday afternoon to come in and give me a treatment. Her office was welcoming and comfortable and Anna was very warm and professional. I immediately felt at ease, and her confidence in the effectiveness of her treatments made me feel even more confident that this would work. We all had a good feeling about it. Anna was admittedly assertive in her approach, since we didn't have much time. After she strategically placed the needles, I reclined in a comfy chair and let them do their magic. I remember feeling light and weightless at one point and I was drifting off with a floating, half-asleep feeling. At the end of the treatment, Anna removed the needles and my husband and I headed home. We climbed into bed that night, hospital bags packed, resigning ourselves to the fact that we'd just go through with the induction in the morning, and at midnight my water broke! We checked into the hospital at 1:30 am, and after laboring on my own for four hours and eventually getting an epidural, I successfully gave birth vaginally to our beautiful baby boy and girl at 11:11 and 11:15 the following morning. We are confident that Anna's acupuncture work lead to this happy ending of our birth story. Thank you Anna!

I would like to thank you Anna for your support, advice, and acupuncture expertise throughout my pregnancy.
I came to Anna in January of 2011 to begin acupuncture treatments to support in fertility in conceiving my second child. I have one healthy toddler boy that I had conceived while getting acupuncture treatments and my husband and I were now focused on growing our family again. I had been pregnant in the summer of 2010, but it had ended preterm in a miscarriage. So in January 2011 I began acupuncture sessions with Anna in hopes of becoming pregnant with my second child - and by the end of the month I was pregnant! My husband and I were thrilled to be expanding our family again – but also cautious through that first trimester, based on the experience we had had the summer prior. I continued to see Anna once a week for acupuncture treatments to ensure a strong and viable pregnancy. By the end of 20 weeks, my pregnancy was going very well and we learned we would be having a baby girl!!!
I also visited Anna right before going into labor for help in inducing labor – I was three days past my due date when I visited her for a treatment and went into labor the following day and had my baby girl that evening – Edie, 9 lbs 5 ounces and 22 inches long.
Anna is incredible at what she does, and also very informative, knowledgeable and supportive throughout my pregnancy. Thank you!!!

It was hard to write this because I can't find the words to thank Anna enough for what she did for me. I started seeing her in the spring of 2010 for issues in unrelated to fertility. Very soon after I switched my focus to fertility because my husband and I were ready to start a family and it wasn't happening as quickly or easily as expected. She was very clear about the instructions for fertility treatments and the patience required to embark on this journey with acupuncture and herbs. I was ready and willing to do it. She asked for 6 – 12 cycles and diligence/faith throughout the process. Understandably my faith waivered as the months went on and she patiently provided me with kind words, hope, and support that I needed to keep going.
Many times I called her crying and she listened and encouraged me to press on. By cycle six I decided to see my OB/GYN to confirm what I thought was low progesterone. Sure enough my bloodwork revealed that my progesterone was extremely low and she indicated I was not ovulating. Her recommendation was that I start Clomid, which I was very against because I didn't want to introduce synthetic hormones into my system, especially after working with acupuncture. Also I knew in my heart of hearts that I WAS ovulating, regardless of what the blood test showed. It was yet another hiccup in my faith in acupuncture but after supportive words from Anna I decided to stay on the natural path.
A couple of days later I observed some strange symptoms and decided to take a pregnancy test (I thought what the heck—it can't hurt!). To my utter surprise, it was positive! I waited the weekend and called my doctor on Monday, went in for a pregnancy test and discovered I was three weeks pregnant! I went from "not ovulating" to "pregnant" in a matter of days. My doctor said stranger things have happened but I knew what happened – acupuncture and herbs!!
My pregnancy was virtually problem free with the exception of having typical pregnancy symptoms. In my 40th week I went to see Anna for natural induction because I was scheduled to be induced in my 41st week. As expected, it worked! Two days before my induction my water broke and I went into natural labor. Today I sit here with my beautiful nine- week old baby girl and I get misty-eyed just thinking about the road to get here. I always refer to Anna as my angel because without her I would not be in this fortunate place. Thank you Anna for making my dreams of becoming a mother come true.

I first came to visit Anna in May of 2009. I had been through 2 years of fertility issues and 8 years of digestive issues and was very discouraged. I turned to acupuncture as an option so as to not have to put more hormones in my body or get on more medication for my digestive issues since I wanted to be pregnant. Anna was very honest with me that she felt I could achieve my goal of getting pregnant, but it could take time. I would have to be patient. This was not easy to do considering I had been trying for a baby for two years already. She also felt she could help with my digestive issues. Upon my first treatment I saw results to my digestive issues. With the help of acupuncture and herbs I saw a great improvement to my stubborn digestive system. In January 2010 I found out I was pregnant. It was a miracle indeed and my husband and I are now proud parents of a healthy baby boy. I received treatments once a week from May to January and then twice a month until the baby was born. I should also note that my water broke at 31 weeks and I had to have my baby 2 months early. Although this was not what we would have desired, our son is healthy and thriving. I noticed a few things in the hospital that I feel all of the acupuncture visits helped with. I was at 5 cm before I knew I was in labor. I only pushed for 30 min. and although I chose to have an epidural, I was up walking around an hour after birth. The healing process to my body was quick and I only took pain medication for two days after birth. I should mention that the nurses were amazed by this. It was also a miracle that I didn't have to have a c-section considering how premature my labor was. I believe that with lots of prayer and the help of Anna...we were able to have the gift of a child. Thank you Anna for walking through this adventure with us.
Blessings always,
KL

Hi Anna
When I came in to see you I was getting cramping. After the treatment,
the cramps increased. I started tracking my contractions at 9 pm when
they got really strong. I labored all night, trying to rest and sleep
in between contractions. They were 10 minutes to 20 minutes apart for a long
time. I started to get worried at 9 am when they were still 10 minutes
apart, but they did increase in strength. I then had to get out of the
house to clear my head. When I got back home, my contractions went to 4 minutes
apart in an hour. We went to the hospital and I had Lincoln in 1 hour
45 minutes. The end was quick! I gave birth at 1:15 pm on March 6. I
didn't use an epidural. I was very happy with the birth experience. It
was 16 hours of labor but it didn't feel long at all. My first birth
experience lasted days , so maybe that is why too :) and Chelle was
amazing! Couldn't have done it without her.
Thank you so much for getting the labor going! It is hard to know, but
I think the treatment sped up the length of the labor too.
Thank you!
Shana

At 39 weeks my OB wanted to induce labor claiming she thought the baby was too large. I was able to hold her off until 39 weeks and 5 days...The OB had scheduled for me to be induced monday morning, so I went to see Anna on Thursday night. I left at 8:30 pm after the 1st treatment and contractions started at 9 pm. Our son came before 9 am the next day. All the more amazing because our 1 st child was 11 days late with a 46 hour labor. After working with Anna, Owen was 2 days early and born in less than 7 hours from having had the treatment. Thank you Anna!

To any future pregnant client of Anna,
Being a Doula, Childbirth Educator, Lactation Consultant & Student Midwife, I knew that I would start acupuncture at the beginning of my pregnancy & throughout because of the positive effect I had seen it have on my clients. I started seeing Anna at 10 weeks of my 2nd pregnancy to help my morning sickness subside, it helped it tremendously and I felt I was able to start feeling like myself again. I was blessed enough to continue on with acupuncture treatments throughout the rest of my pregnancy every week to alleviate any discomforts of pregnancy, while strengthening my body in preparation for my birth experience. This birth experience was so important to me and I knew that if I wanted to do everything I could to make my body strong and in harmony, acupuncture had to be one of the key elements. Towards the end of my pregnancy, I started seeing Anna twice a week, and on July 22nd I received my last treatment before I gave birth to my son less than 24 hours later. I achieved a beautiful HBAC (Home Birth after a Cesarean) and gave birth to my son River in our jacuzzi in our backyard under the stars. I am truly SO grateful for Anna and the help that she provided me with! I would (& do) recommend her to EVERYONE! :)

Hi Anna,
I don't know if you remember me but I came in for an acupuncture treatment to induce labor. You had asked me to text you/call you about the birth but I completely lost track of time and forgot. I'm sorry it's taken me sooo long to get back to you, but I thought you would enjoy seeing little Benjamin who you helped bring into the world! After I saw you, I started laboring in the middle of the night and throughout the morning. Just like before, my labor stalled again for some reason and then it picked up again around 4 pm. We checked into the hospital at around 12:40 am and he was born at 1:47 am. It was a pretty quick and easy delivery and [it was] such and amazing and different experience. Thanks so much for your warmth, kindness and help. I hope to come in for some more treatments once I get my act together juggling my toddler and newborn. Haha. Thanks again!

When my pregnancy rolled into
week 39, our healthcare providers wanted
to induce labor. Instead, I visited Anna, who performed an acupuncture
procedure designed to induce labor naturally. Within two days, labor
began and after an hour in the hospital our son arrived in perfect
health. Thank you Anna!
